Project Description

  • Project awarded to RISE through nationally competitive process.
  • First housing addition at ODU in 20 years and part of initiative to transform from a commuter to a residential campus.
  • Ten buildings totaling 414,846 square feet of residential space and 50,620 square feet of retail space.
  • The retail space known as the “Shops of University Village” features a number restaurants and cafes, including a Starbucks, Tropical Smoothie, Sakura Sushi Bar and several other specialty restaurants as well as a campus police substation, internet café and fitness center.
  • Located in a redevelopment area of Norfolk and involving the acquisition of over 40 properties as well as the addition of new streets and abandonment of others, the project had to closely follow city regulatory guidelines and approval processes.
