Millersville University, SSI, and RISE Successfully Complete Three-Phased Housing Transformation through P3 Partnership
Valdosta, GA, November 14, 2016- After a four-year turn-key partnership, RISE: A Real Estate Company delivered The Villages, a 665,000 SF living-learning community, to Millersville University and Student Services, Inc (SSI). The three-phased replacement of over 1,900 beds on campus required strategic planning to maintain the University’s existing housing capacity during demolition and construction.
A mix of single and double occupancy semi-suites and full suite units, the new five-building community supports the on-campus living model while offering multiple price points to students. Residents enjoy the comforts of apartment-suite living, while remaining engaged with the University and their peers on campus. The project is highlighted by its unique, specialized “pod units,” which serve as hybrids of private suites and common living spaces.
This replacement housing model fulfills the needs many institutions have for providing modern accommodations to their students through feasible methods. RISE President, Greg Blais, provides insight into this shift and its proven success.
“On campus, the trend is to build new inventory to replace old – the ’60s through the ’80s,” he says. “Millersville had a vision to provide new, technologically-advanced, and unique educational settings in the halls. They succeeded.”
These amenities include strategically-located classrooms, generous collaboration and meeting spaces, and multi-purpose gaming and entertainment rooms that all contribute to the highly-engaging yet safe and secure environment. The housing encircles the main lawn of campus and provides a fantastic live-learn + play opportunity.”
Through intentional collaboration, transparency, and experience, the Public-Private Partnership (P3) between Millersville University, SSI, and RISE fostered the development of a complete housing transformation and campus revival.
