2,000 Beds in 20 Months – RISE Delivers Two New Residence Halls at UTK

The University of Tennessee is preparing to welcome students this semester to two new residence halls. RISE is delivering Beacon Hall and Poplar Hall as part of a fast-tracked public-private partnership with the University ahead of August move-ins. Phase II will see Torchbearer Hall bring an additional 1,028 beds to campus for the Fall 2026 semester.

Coverage for upcoming student move-ins was provided by Knox News.

“Two new University of Tennessee at Knoxville residence halls are ready to welcome students, two aging dormitories are on their way out, and another old dorm will become temporary student housing for the upcoming fall semester.

“Both Beacon and Poplar will include a post office, laundry room and community kitchen. The dorms were fast-tracked through a public-private partnership between UT, Provident Resources Group and RISE, the developer. The collaborative approach helped UT cover costs while addressing ongoing student housing issues on campus.”
